I left my heart in San Franklino.

Can I convince you to paint it flat black?

Just when we thought the Early VFR section was safe...

No offense guys but I've never seen anyone more sentimental over a dump of motel than that. I almost felt the need to take a bath in a tub full of Lysol when I got home from TMac year before last. Yes I am sure there were great memories there but there was also a foul smell in several rooms and god only knows what those sheets would look like under a UV light. If the motel was clean and run in a competent manner we probably wouldn't be having this conversation right now. Seriously what is there to miss about that place?

  • Why VFRD?:I've been a long time member and have met several very cool VFR drivers in the area and made a few runs. Also the mechanical information on this site is first rate. That is why I am and have stayed a VFRD member

We've already cried over this one Skuuter!
http://www.vfrdiscus...-motel-say-bye/

It worked very well for us set-up wise, not the cleanest place and what part of the motel you were in made a Big difference!

I know most folks won't miss it, but I kind of liked the cozy-ness of the place. Mom and Pop motels are getting pretty rare, so it's sad to see The Franklin Motel gone.

But I also agree with those who say it needed work to keep up with better places to keep hosting group events like TexasMac.
