I really am new to California, and I don't know the roads, so I will let you fine folks pick the ride. I like the idea of meeting at 8 with KSU at 8:30. I live in Walnut Creek if it matters.

Looking forward to it!

I trust the locals on the traffic situation. Just allow enough time for us to get up with sunlight and we should be fine. Let's do the eastern section with the west as an option.

I have never had a huge problem with traffic in that area, even on weekends, but if TJ has had to deal with it, better to be safe than sorry. And the road around berryessa is Decently wide with a good amount of straits so it's not too difficult to pass, but if you all are fine with 8am, that's cool with me.

And I rode the eastern portion in about 4 hours, starting and ending in Sonoma, so we can stop for lunch in Calistoga and assess the situation.

And for those who would like to do the western portion, the road out to the coast is Skaggs spring road. The first portion around Lake Sonoma is awesome and pretty much a race track, but then there is a good 30 miles of some very goaty roads. That part would be a pretty slow pace because the road is pretty crappy, but it's freaking gorgeous. It's through the mountains and a bunch of redwoods.

This sounds good in terms of options - 4 hours with the option for more. Pick a nice spot for lunch and I think you're done. Maybe split the difference with KSU (Kick Stands Up) at 9 with 8:30 arrival.

If it's going to a 100+ degree day around Calistoga (as it can be by that time) , I say the earlier the better. Then duck into the redwoods :)

I can't see for Sunday yet, but that Friday is supposed to be 84 in Calistoga, so it might not be too hot. and if we are doing KSU at 9 it wont be too bad.

Eastern portion should be the hottest and Bay Area doesn't usually get to max temps until 3pm. I'm good up to about 90 while moving at which point, I change sports and go swimming. :fing02:

If we do the Eastern portion first, Buster's seems like a timely option.

Yeah I think TJ mentioned Busters also. We will do the eastern portion first, stop once at the north end of Berryessa for a regroup/bathroom break then head to Calistoga for lunch at Busters. Then we can see if anyone wants to continue on to the western section
