can a 1990-94 engine be fitted into an 1987 frame?

Any thing is possible with enough fab work... but it will not be a direct fit. I don't know about the UK but a 3rd or 4th gen frame can be found fairly inexpensively over here. I have a 4th gen frame in my garage that I need to figure out what to do with.
