First of all, I'm a newbie here guys. I got a VFR 750 engine a few weeks back. Was idling and running fine. I usually start it with at least half choke. Yesterday go to start it, no go, didn't matter if I had full choke... But I managed to start it with choke off, and just giving it some revs. Once warmer I could start it with a small amount of choke no worries, but as soon as Id increase choke, it would miss and stall. Un;ess I increased it extremely slowy it wouldnt stall but it would miss badly. I can't figure it out, anyone got any ideas??

one should not accelerate when the Choke is on. You will flood the engine if you rev with the choke on.

Yeah that's obvious mate. I said I can only start it cold with revs and not choke. If I try with choke, the more choke I give, it start missing, then stalls

What year ( carbs or FI)? Pull the plugs and have a look-- maybe choke cable is binding (no lube or improper routing)

- if cold start is easy without choke, and does not run well when hot - the bike is running too rich. - Check air filter

Cheers for the input guys. The engine is actually in my gokart, pretty sure it was from a 90 model vfr 750, 6 speed. It's sort of an intermittent problem. Got home from work started with half choke, idled fine for a few minutes, then just died, could only start it again with the choke off and give it revs, as I eased off the throttle it would almost die again. The plugs all look pretty new, they were pretty dry looking though.. It's weird, the first time it was sounding smooth, after that it almost was as if it could have been on 3 cylinders, not too sure. Would I be best to just change the plugs anyway, one could be dodgy?
