For anyone planning to ride CO 103 between the Mt. Evans Lodge at Echo Lake and Bergen Park, it's a GREAT NEWS/ bad news story. This road has been in disrepair for a few years now but much of the heaved asphalt and pot holey conditions have been milled and repaved creating a super ride in what has sometimes been treacherous in the twisties. One small area that covers only about 1/2 mile closer to the Bergen Park side has actually been made WORSE by trying to fill cracks and holes with asphalt patches. The patches are about an inch higher than the surrounding pavement, I suppose in an effort to have them eventually mash down even with the surrounding areas. Add to that a truck load of extra gravely asphalt debris in this stretch and cornering is trickey. I think it will be knocked to the sides of the road in a month or so. Watch yourself in this short section and then enjoy the miles of brand new surface at speed!

... and man what a beautiful day atop Mt. Evans! I have never seen it so warm and calm up there. Spring runoff is going to be a big problem this year.

Yea the county road was awful for years and years, I was on this with some friends in May it was ok then. The other side of the pass is a bit bumpy too now.
