With a standard Pilot Power I had around 300 ripper miles left before cord, I would think 4-500 miles w/ Pilot road2 which I run now and more if you don't roast them in 3200 miles!

I was wondering the same as the PR2 are on the wear bars to and I have a 400ml trip this weekend. Ordered some Roadsmarts online to replace the PR2 but wanted them to put just before next month trip to Italy. But yesterday I found the PR2 rear had nasty cut in the thread through wihich you could see the cords so I decided to have them replaced asap. With my regular tire guy being on vacation I was lucky to find another shop able to squeez me into his busy schedule on such short notice. Looking at the tires that came off I am happy I replaced them sooner than planned. The middle section of the worn PR2s are about as skinny as a bicycle tire.

Rosso, I think if your trip was planned to be twisty, you would have been ok on those. I'm not sure what that cut line is all about, but I've seen them on a few tires. I had one show up on my PR2 rear in the first 100 miles, then it wore away, came back, wore away again. It's something in the construction of the tire.

It will be a mix of tight twisties and fast sweepers
But being able to see the cords made me feel a bit uncomfortable, it would be in the back of my head the entire trip. But the thickness of the PR in the middle is no more than 3mm. Probably enough for a couple of 100mls meandering along the rivers, but I don't know what happens if you put some real heat into them.

well, I made it through the weekend, so I replace my rear next week, if you look where your wear bar is, the grove venturing futher into the center, my groove is gone. Just fyI

And still no sign of the cords? I am glad I changed mine as we had lots of heavy rain during our trip (Belgian Ardennes) but with everone on good tires we still managed to maintain a good pace
Sound you had a good ride even the rain
Its always best to be on the safe side whit tires. Hope you liked/like the Roadsmarts
First ride on mine to work today.
By the way, wounder if that cut got its begun from the small pice of metal we pulled from your reartire last summer at Dougs?

No, this cut was relatively fresh as I check my tires regularly and never noticed it before. It had several other small cuts but none this deep.
So far I think the Roadsmarts are OK, but I've mostly ridden them in them in the wet. It seems turn in takes a little bit more effort than the PR2.

I've gone pretty far down without hitting cords.

My tire mileage has gone to crap since moving from NY to TN. Damn curves!

That's good to know, a PP would be in the cords by now! It's amazing how good they still grip right down to the cords, except in the wet of course!
And yes Twisties are a blessing and a curse as I love them but have burned through over 30 sets of tires!
