I'm on my 2nd set of Pilot Road 2's and like them a lot, especially since I got about 11,000 miles on my first front tire and about 8,000+ on the rear. BTW, that's mostly commuting and some tour riding here and there.

Before the Road 2s I also ran a set of Pilot Powers, and as most know they handled great although the initial tip in took some getting used to. Of course, the commuting mileage wasn't great....I got about 8,000 miles from the front and 4,000 or so on the rear.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone here has run a Pilot Power front and a Road 2 rear? If so, how does the handling of the mixed combo compare to a full set of Road 2's? I'm also thinking with this combo that the front and rear tire will both wear about the same and last about 8,000 miles or so.

I just used up a Pilot Power front and Pilot Road rear. Not the Road 2.

But this is by far the best set of tires I've had the VFR so far. Almost 8k miles out of the rear, but it's definately shot. The front has some life left, but I'll replace as a set over the winter.

The handling w/ these tires was very confidence inspiring and I felt no loss of grip under hard riding. They also performed well in the rain.

yep, I'm on my second set of PP front and PR2 rear.

The first set lasted about 11,000km, before the rear was squared off a bit and the front to the wear markers. The rear probably could have done 2,000km more, but I had a big 4 day ride to do so just replaced both at the same time.

I'm no tire guru but it stands to reason mixing that combination would be great. Your tires should expire about the same time plus your front might be a tad stickier than the rear, the perfect combination. Might do this myself next time as I always change both tires at the same time no matter how good the front still is. Then again, I don't really know much

I fitted a set of pilot powers approx 6000kms ago, front looks half worn and have just fitted a pilot rd 2 to the rear, only done a few hundred klms on it, bit early to say how its goes but i have noticed a different feel to the rear, i have,nt been able to lean it as far over as the previous tyre but i,ll wait and see how it wears, hope this helps.

I think BaileyRock did a review on this combo... He's been known to rip up some twisties and he had great things to say...

I was running that combo until about 3 weeks ago. I now have a PR on the front instead of a PR2ct.(I couldn't find anyone that had a PR2ct in stock).

I loved the way my bike smoothly went into a curve. To me it felt better than PP's on the front and back. When my PR2ct on the rear starts getting thin I'm going to get a set .I want to see how PR2ct's feel on the front and back.

I have been using a Power front and Road2 rear for a couple thousand miles now. It is a great combination.

I was wondering if you were every going to try that combo!
Pretty sweet, I'm on my second set of the PP/PR2 combo. Let me know what happens after 1/2- 2/3 wear, the front seemed to start going off on me and handling degraded a bunch.
They do wear 1 to 1 though, about 3500 miles avg.

Yep, I have a PR2 in my basement waiting to get a patch before it is installed, and I purchased a new one a few months ago when my last take off was worn out. Unfortunately I have only put in maybe 1500 miles in the last few months and my riding season is about over. I'll let you know in April.

Yep. I've been using the PP-F and PP2CT-R combo for about 24000Ks of mixed riding (averaging 12000Ks per set), and I reckon the combo is great. I'm due to replace my current set 'real soon now', and can't find any reason to change manufacturers or models. I'm fairly demanding on the bike's front end, and it's only now with around 12000K usage on it that I've had the front tyre slip a tad on the odd occasion. For safety reasons I prefer to change them both at the same time. Great tyres/tires, great bike, imo great combo! (2005 VTEC).

Been there, tried that... great combo, the rear Road 2CT lasts way longer than the Power 2CT but grips about the same... I use my bike for commuting everyday, rain, hail or shine so I need that extra durability in the centre of the tyre but do push it in the twisties on weekends so appreciate the stickier compound on the edges... the VTEC's an obese little MF so the stickier Power 2CT up front is the duck's nuts.

Currently polishing off a set of Racetecs which will have pampered me far too much as these things stick no matter what... returning to the Road/Power combo next... so will probably have the odd foot-in-mouth experience now and again seeing as temps are pretty cool around here at the mo'. (6ēC on the way to work in the mornings).
