So which one is it? the tire which will get above average in the followings...

- wear (mileage)
- grip (wet & dry)
- price

Personally I like the Pilot Road, you?
:)

I have Dunlop 208 ZR's on both my bikes and am VERY happy...but the next go-round, I might try the Michelins (but they will be Pilot Powers) as I have ridden a bike with those and had no complaints!

It's really too early to tell but I voted for the Avons because I just put a set on. I had been running the Maxxis Supermaxx and got good mileage/grip from them but wanted to try something different. I had narrowed my choices to the Avons or the Stradas and went for the Avons.
There had been a report regarding some shimmy or vibration from some new Avons and I learned that, unlike most MC tire makers, Avon does NOT mark the tire with an index paint dot to line up with the valve stem and maybe because of that the tires did not get properly balanced.
We'll see how they perform.

I haven't had to replace my OEM tires yet, which are Dunlop 204s, I believe. However, my friend runs AVONs on his GSX-R and he is extremely happy. They work great all the way to the edge, haven't cupped on the front, and has about 25% more tire on the rear after 3000 miles. Not too shabby :D

^Your Pilot Roadz lasted 10,000 miles? I'll be replacing my stock Dunlop 204s after just 3,000 miles, and that includes proper maintenance and easy riding...or not :D

Metz Z6's for me. Even with all the negative things I have read on this forum regarding them, I have not experienced any of it. I am currently at 5,000 miles on my set (that includes one very long trackday at Willow Springs <see avitar>) and have had no problems. I am looking at getting at least another 2,000 miles on them and they have AMAZING wet traction. In addition I paid a grand total of $92 for the front and $112 for the rear.

On the road I like the Metzler z6 and the Prielli Strada's (same tire IMO). For the track I really liked the Dunlop 208GP's--stick like glue--I mean they really stick--also very predictable.

Pilot Power up front, Pilot Road in the back. Last Road on back had 6500 miles, plus whatever previous owner put on it. Power up front sticks like super glue. Lovin' this setup.

I fitted Diablo Stradas based on what I researched, I've always used Pirelli's on my big road bikes over the years, with no dramas. I needed a true multipurpose tyre, and thought the Diablos are it! Mind, I'm not a fast road rider so all out stickyness wasn't an issue, but long life commuting was!

Cheers Scott.

Bridgestone 014s. They stick! And they're relatively cheap.
Mileage sucks though (2,000 to 2,500 miles on a rear). Part of that is the way I ride - twisties only with very little slabbing.

I think it is not really relevant to compare touring and sport tires. They are designed for different things. If I was planning a cross country tour I would pick different tires.

Avons get my vote. Good wet/dry traction and fantastic milage. I have about 2500 miles on my second rear tire (I got approx. 11,000 out of the first one) and I'm still on my first front tire which would put it at 13,500 miles and still going strong!
The older I get, the faster I was...

Z6's for me as well. I have over 7K on the rear and it looks like I'll get about another 1K before I have to replace it.

Despite the articles on the Conti Road Attacks, I think they are by far the best ST tire I have used, it heats up quick and the mileage has been around 7k for the rear and 8k for the front. I just recently put on a second set. Oh plus they look neat!

Just over 4000 miles on my 202's and, from the looks of 'em, I wouldn't be surprised to get that much more. I ride about 50/50 between slabs and twisties and avoid rear-wheel spins.

3500 into my Z6s, and no issues yet. I have slid the rear under heavy braking once or twice. The front has been rock solid.

I have another set held in reserve waiting to go.

I've had bt020s bt014s and now a pilot road. The pilot road looks like it's going to last longer than the 020, but I liked the traction on the 020 better. The traction on the 014 is awesome, but the tire lasted less than 3000 miles. I vote for the bt020.

Who ever put the Rennsports in this poll deserves angel wings... you know I had to be
the only vote for them... I think you're missing out on a great tire VFRD...
I know it's an old clique but Rennsports do stick like glue and wear like iron... currently I
have 3200 miles on a RS2 front and a RS3 rear...

I switched from the original D204's to Z6's after about 5500 miles. What a difference! The Z6's were leaps and bounds better. Not that I'm a seriously aggressive rider, and I mostly commute, but I never lost confidence in those tires. I also got over 13,000 miles from them. I just put a set of Pilot Roads on because I've read good things about them and don't want to miss some good tires. Time will tell the difference. . . So far the most noticeable difference is the profile of the tires. The Z6's are more pointed and fall into a corner quicker, whereas the PR's are more round and the amount of rider input required for cornering is more predictable.

Metzeler Rennsports have been around since 2000... basically they sent Michelin
Bridgestone and Dunlop back to the drawing board... here's a UK review on the
Rennsport Street which sadly they do not make any more... that's why I'm using an RS3
rear and a RS2 front... the compound of the Rennsport Street was inbetween and RS3
(medium) and a RS2 (soft)
