Six Figures

Icon Leave Comment
Well a small event in the bikes history took place as I rode to work last week. As you can see from the picture I've hit the 6 figure mark. 100,000km. I can't say they've been trouble free, but its been pretty close to that. So here's some pictures of the event from my phone.

More Maintenance Work...trip Time!

Icon 1 Comments
In preparation for the Dallas to Dillon run, I needed to do some maintenance work big time. 28,900 miles on the clock, I bought the bike with 14,000 miles...so more than half are mine now. Only averaging 7K miles per year, but this trip should blow that away....3500 miles estimated total.

In April I put a new back tire on (Bridgestone BT021). ...

Okay, I went a bit crazy today. Since I'm givin' the VFR a facelift and considering new bodywork or at least patch/paint, I now realize other things will look a bit out of place. Especially the exhaust header system! Faded matte black with lots of rust to show it age/miles... ugh. When I was looking for the radiators, I noticed a...

So when last I left you, I had just finished up the valves (with the help of my buddy Tony) and needed to get some additional wiring taken care or while waiting for my exhaust to get back from Jet-Hot. ...well, Father's Day weekend was as good a time as any to wrap up my project! :fing02:...

First real ride of the year. Every year I ride deeper into the winter and hibernate longer in the Spring. Gotta change that. Anyway, I was up and out of the house by 7AM. Not too bad since I was up late watching UFC despite already having seen all three fights. I had a nice route setup on my Garmin. Most of the roads were new to me that I had...

Figured it was going to be one of the last rideable days so I took advantage. It was about a three hour trip, I left Rapid City on one of my favorite roads, Nemo Road, after that I hooked off onto Vanucker Canyon Road, AWESOME ROAD!! Pulled through Sturgis, Deadwood, and Lead on the way to Cheyenne Crossing. Turned up Spearfish Canyon...

On The Track!

OK, well, it was always going to happen one of these days, wasn't it...
About 10 days back I went on the track with the mighty VFR800. The PB forum organised a day out at Cadwell Park, one of Britains tighter, more twisty circuits, as used in the British Superbikes, among other things, with about 45 of us in attendance, although only about 30...

Finally Swapped Tires!

I finally swapped the stock Dunlops for some Pirelli Diablo Stradas at about 4980 miles. Cords were beginning to show on the rear tire. I neglected to take any photos illustrating the condition of the Dunlops.

A friend and I cut some rubber tubing in half to protect the rim and then set to work with a bead breaker, a valve stem tool, a couple of...

SWEET!!! I just scored a set of fairings on ebay! And, it's even in my favorite color for the CBR.

Ok, ok, I have to admit, I really like the white color scheme too. Oh, and I just saw the new '08 flat black color last weekend, very hot!

Anticipation

Yesterday, we had a fair breeze blow in from Texas and the 8:00AM temperature was 52 degrees. I cranked up the Interprize for the first time in a while when we went on an RTE in Camden for Southern Fried Catfish. She fired right up and we went through town feeling dwarfed by the many SUV's on the road; mommas taken the kids to school.

I...
