In the red corner...in the blue corner

I need to start by saying that I'm a casual motorcycle rider who enjoys a few back roads every now and then. I have been riding for 4 years now and love it. I thought it would be interesting to post some of my thoughts on these two bikes that are currently in my stable.

My 1987 VFR 700 is and was my first motorcycle. I had wanted a motorcycle...

Out for a ride

Couldn't let a beautiful sunshine day go by without a ride out in the countryside. This photo was taken less than 5 minutes from my home. You can see Table Mountain in the background. I live in the northern suburbs of Cape Town on the edge of the Durbanville Wine Route and further north is virtually only farming area. Lots of nice scenery and...

Father & Son ride suggestions

I live in the Pacific NW near Portland Oregon and am looking for some suggestions regarding a good father son ride. My son is enlisting in the Army next summer and I wanted to take a week or longer road trip with him next spring or early summer so we could spend some quality time together before he left for basic training. I was initially looking...

Help with speedometer not working

I would like to seek input on what to do for the speedometer that stopped working on my 04 Interceptor. Anyone else have problems with this on their bike?

All a little too quiet

Stopped at the petrol station on my way to work yesterday. Filled up the tank and got organised to set off. Turned the key, all the lights, and hit the starter. A bit of an noise then nothing. A couple more attempts and nothing. The bike wasn't starting.

Here I was at 6am on a highway petrol station with a bike that wouldn't start....

More Maintenance Work...trip Time!

In preparation for the Dallas to Dillon run, I needed to do some maintenance work big time. 28,900 miles on the clock, I bought the bike with 14,000 miles...so more than half are mine now. Only averaging 7K miles per year, but this trip should blow that away....3500 miles estimated total.

In April I put a new back tire on (Bridgestone BT021). ...

Okay, I went a bit crazy today. Since I'm givin' the VFR a facelift and considering new bodywork or at least patch/paint, I now realize other things will look a bit out of place. Especially the exhaust header system! Faded matte black with lots of rust to show it age/miles... ugh. When I was looking for the radiators, I noticed a...

First real ride of the year. Every year I ride deeper into the winter and hibernate longer in the Spring. Gotta change that. Anyway, I was up and out of the house by 7AM. Not too bad since I was up late watching UFC despite already having seen all three fights. I had a nice route setup on my Garmin. Most of the roads were new to me that I had...

Figured it was going to be one of the last rideable days so I took advantage. It was about a three hour trip, I left Rapid City on one of my favorite roads, Nemo Road, after that I hooked off onto Vanucker Canyon Road, AWESOME ROAD!! Pulled through Sturgis, Deadwood, and Lead on the way to Cheyenne Crossing. Turned up Spearfish Canyon...
